Last year, a few months before our wedding, I learned that our church was undergoing a huge project in which they were installing real bells in the bell tower. (Amazingly enough, most churches in the midwest/south/southwest only have fake bells or one big bell). They announced the huge project would be finished sometime in late October. While very exciting for the church, I was selfishly petrified there would be a giant crane in front of the church on our wedding day. And selfishly, I was sad that they would not be finished in time for our wedding. The events of our wedding day came and went and I got over the whole bell thing very quickly. I hear them ring on Sunday morning, but other than that, I have not thought much about the bells until last night.
Last night, I attended a wedding at our church that was really pretty. Our friend (and minister who married us) officiated the ceremony. Candles were lit, vows were exchanged and it was all very beautiful. We took our lit candles and lined the church exit down the stairs and to the getaway car. As the bride and groom exited, I was suddenly filled with a teensy, tiny, very minimal bit of jealousy as the wedding bells began to toll for the bride and groom. It was absolutely beautiful and such a neat moment and who are we kidding, I was insanely jealous.
I turned to my friend Meredith (who got married at the church the weekend after us and suffered through the same fear of cranes as I did) and we both said "I am so jealous right now" to each other. At least I had someone with me to share in my envy.
So, in conclusion of my day 2 post (we're on a roll here, people!), I must say, the Bells did not toll for me.

Oh man, the only thing better than a small group shout-out is a blog shout-out! WOOHOO!!! I'm so glad we were able to commiserate together on this one. :)
I also love that we find the same things awkward (and then both immediately reach for the wine). See you in a few!
I bet their reception didn't have a Peach Bellini machine though.
I may do 30 comments in 30 days!
