I have been scouring books, magazines, catalogs and stores for ideas/inspiration for decorating the new home. Tonight, I am doing this from the comfort of my couch by ways of the internet due to the inclement weather. So, I just googled home decor and came across a site that looked promising. It had categories by room and decor type. Wanting to keep things classic, I clicked on "traditional kitchen" and this is the idea that they came up with for me:

That's a cat canister, folks. A canister made in the shape of a cat. I wonder if you open him up by the top of his head or if he just snaps off at the neck. I clicked on a few other ideas and was presented with a cat trivet, a cat spoon rest and a country cat kitchen towel rest. Country Cat Kitchen. I seriously can't stop laughing. My loving husband thinks I have lost it.

This thing would go great with my cat canister. It's a hen chalkboard. All modern kitchens need one. What do you write on the chalkboard? The menu for dinner? What if you're serving chicken? Doesn't that seem a little morbid? And why does the hen have a basket made of raffia around its neck?
I have been inspired to display for you this evening a few other tacky decor items compliments of the internet:

Here we have some lovely shower curtain hooks. In the shape of outhouses. There's a joke here somewhere....

And finally, we have a mallard duck door stop. And a colorful mallard at that. Must be a male. I am not sure why you would want to decorate your door stop but apparently there is quite the market out there as this thing was a featured item.
You all are going to line up to get a sneak peek of my house once I am done decorating, aren't you? Well, stay tuned. Maybe I will make this into one of those blog carnivals and call it "Tuesday Night Travesties". I need to learn how to make a button.

This is so weird--we registered for ALL of the items you mentioned but no one bought them for us. No idea why. :)
This was hilarious. Who WOULDN'T want a Country Cat kitchen?? I think the most confusing thing is the door stop. Is there hair on that poor creature? And he looks like he's in major pain. All of these items--terrible. Very, very terrible.
Thanks for the house-warming gift ideas.
I never have any luck shopping for decorating ideas either.
Sadly, someone will google the same thing and fall in love.
So, when do you move in?
P.s. Those would be awesome 'white elephant' gifts!
