I am procrastinating packing up my house and thought I would take this opportunity to share a few of my favorite things:
- When you walk into the office in the morning and your eyes immediately dart to your phone and there before you are three little words that read "No New Messages."
- Your dog napping on you. So, if you don't have a dog, maybe your cat or pet ferret will do the trick, but there is nothing better than when they snuggle up next to you and fall asleep. Lola is asleep on my lap as I type. Hank is sunning himself on our back steps.
- Sunday mornings. The Sunday paper, coffee, Meet The Press (yes, I am a nerd) and the ability to have three plus hours to get ready for something that doesn't start until 11. I realize I will lose this luxury when I someday have children as I seem to remember Sunday mornings as a time of mass chaos as the three girls tried to share one bathroom in an attempt to get ready for Sunday School. But for now, Sunday mornings are my favorite.
- Shopping at Whole Foods. It is not your typical grocery store, folks. You don't run into anyone on a scooter who takes up the whole width of the aisle, you don't witness anyone trying to shoplift and being escorted out by security (this happened to me a few weeks ago at a regular grocery store), there are foods you've never heard of and can't wait to take home and try and they give you a bag credit to donate to charity every time you bring in your own recyclable grocery bags.
- Fillets of Beef. 6 oz fillets of beef cooked medium- medium rare that have been prepared by professional chefs to be exact. Mmmmm.
- Cheddar Bites from Sonic. With ranch. And of course a large side of vanilla coke. I am pretty sure I lived off this meal in college (so nutritious and healthy, I know) and every once in a while I crave it and eventually give in and drive straight to Sonic. When I lived in Connecticut, I googled the closest Sonic and learned it was in Virginia and I shed a couple of tears. You all will be happy to know that the closest (and only) restaurant near our new home is a Sonic.
- Motorcycle rides with my loving husband. When we dated in college, my loving husband would pick me up and take me to class on his motorcycle because motorcycles always get the best parking spots. I don't know about your college campus, but at ours, a good parking spot deserved bragging rights for weeks. We don't get to ride as much as we did in college, but every once in a while we take the bike to dinner or small group and it always makes me smile.
-Pugs! (Duh.)
- Live theatre. I prefer musicals more than plays for reasons that are too long to list and too hard to explain unless you really know me, but I love going to the theatre and would rather spend $50 to see someone perform live than $10 to see someone on a screen.
I thought about listing a few of my least favorite things, but I decided I would attempt to keep this post positive out of fear that my least favorite things would far outnumber my favorite things.
