Can She Do It Folks?

After reading my last post, my good friend Tiff (who also wanted a shout out on the old blog- so hellooooo Tiff!) suggested I try and create some sort of Julie/Julia bloggy thing. I am not sure I have the ambition (or time at home) to do something every day for a whole year and blog about it, but her suggestion got me thinking. Thinking about doing something similar. Throw in some holiday cheer and I've got myself a challenge. And a heck of a lot of blog posts coming up.

I grew up celebrating Advent (never really knew that was weird) and I would like to somehow honor this tradition and continue the celebration. So. With the season of Advent upon us, I have decided I will bake a different batch of cookies every day for the 24 days leading up to Christmas. And on the 25th day, I will make my husband's absolute favorite, an annual tradition in our household. (I almost choked on the cuteness in that last sentence. Sorry about that). And all along the way I will blog about it. Maybe even post a picture and a recipe or two. Or twenty five.

Admittedly, I will have to cheat a little bit as I have year-end meetings in D.C. scheduled for next week so I will be baking a couple recipes ahead of time and then giving my loving husband the honor of baking no-bake cookies. Errr...preparing no-bake cookies. Ok, fine, I will probably make the dough and just leave him to spoon out the cookies onto the wax paper and call it a day.

I have (sadly?) spent a good majority of my evening plotting out which recipes will go on which days and how big of a batch to make of each cookie. I am trying out quite a few new recipes because when I jotted down all the cookie recipes I know and love, they came to a grand total of 7. That's only a week...I practically need a month's worth.

I have called all family members to take inventory on their favorite cookies because near as I can tell I will be making approximately 600 cookies and I don't think my loving husband or I can stomach all of them. So donating family favorites to my loved ones will become necessity.

I realize I might be setting myself up for epic failure, but what the heck, it's the holidays. First post starts Wednesday. Wish me luck...
