my hopes and dreams and an airstream

So, we kind of live out in the boonies. Well, according to me, we live out in the boonies. My loving husband reminds me that we still have paved roads and water/electric run by a city and not a co-op and we have a fence around our house so farm animals don't wander up to our back porch, so we are not out in the boonies. I tell him we have a rural mail carrier and there is an operating pump jack 100 yards from our house, so that makes us in the boonies. The debate continues.

Anyway, as we make our way out of the boonies and into the "city" we always pass this trailer park (campground maybe?) near the interstate. And every time we pass it, I spy this little gem parked near the front of the trailer park/campground:

Behold, the Airstream.

And here's the thing......I WANT ONE.

I have this vision of us loading up the pugs and the (future) kiddos and packing up a bunch of picnic-y food items and hitting the road. We'll sing obnoxious car songs, we'll pull over five times in an hour to take pictures in front of "historical" markers. We'll find picnic benches at non-sketch rest stops (is that an oxymoron?) to have our little picnic lunches. And we'll make our way across this great land and end up in....

Yellowstone. Yes, Yellowstone.

We'll see Old Faithful and the boiling mud pots and the waterfalls and the forests and the bears and the moose. And then we can pull up into the campground in our handy little Airstream and call it a night.

If you're going to travel across the country, why WOULDN'T you want to do it in one of these???
This here's a vintage one. (I secretly really want one of these, but am willing to settle for the modern version as they are probably easier to find in this day and age. )

I finally shared this hope and dream with my loving husband the other day....buying an Airstream, having a family, traveling to Yellowstone. He looked at me kind of awkwardly (like he tends to do when I spring this kind of stuff on him) and smiled and told me to blog about it. I don't know if this means he is on board with my idea of purchasing one of these beauties or if he is just hoping that if I blog about it, my obsession will eventually pass.
But here's the thing, loving hubs: Let's start an Airstream Savings Fund. Whatdayasay???

I applaud your excitement. And if you're going to do it, the Airstream is definitely the way to go. :) If I could give one piece of advice, when you take this vacation make sure your kiddos aren't 17 and 14. If you do, it's hard to tell who will hate who (whom?) more at the end of the trip. (In our case, I believe my parents hated us more.)
