Tales from Arkansas Event

So....I have been in Arkansas for about a week now and I have about another week to go. I have a slow morning before the madness that is this Pro-Am Pairings Party tonight, so I thought I would highlight a few things from my trip thus far.

Let's start with the fresh smell of port-a-potties in the morning. After my 4am wakeup call and my rush to find a golf cart in the dark, I was slapped in the nostrils with the smell of human waste. This did not get my day going too well. I have had to put some perfume under my nose just to get through the day. The joys of working outdoor events.

Some of my favorite duties here inlcude that fact that I get to go to Sam's and pick up Bananas and load them in a pick up and then distribute them to various areas every afternoon. Sometimes, I get so excited that I have a college degree that I want to go back and get my master's so I could hopefully get to do more exciting things like maybe add apples, or even oranges to my order. In all seriousness, bananas are important to the nourishment of all volunteers, pros and spectators. So, I do feel pretty darn important.

I am still recovering from my performance of various dances the other night. Around midnight, I brought out the high school fight song, and a few other oldies, but goodies for my new friends here in Arkansas. (And yes, the animal dance was included. And yes, there may or may not have been an evening of cocktails included as well). Needless to say, my body regretted this decision the following morning and is still a little sore. Whoops. Luckily, no herniated disks at this event. I would probably pack it up and head west if I really had injured myself whilst embarrasing myself in front of former C-level execs of Wal-mart. (And yes, they were in attendance). Again, whoops.

I am pretty excited for Pro-Am Registration, which starts tomorrow. It is one of my all time favorite duties. I love getting to tell 254 people where to eat breakfast and to enjoy their round of golf. I mean, I love it.

There have been a few other good stories including a cart ride in the pitch black when I got whacked in the face by a large bug; the removal of a GIANT turtle in the road; and uniform distribution. But I am just got an all call on the radio for a Pro-Am walk through. Duty calls. More tales to come....
