As usual, my husband and I stayed in on Saturday night. I had suggested we go for margaritas, you know, watch some basketball eat some queso and enjoy some activity on a Saturday night. But we decided to stay at home- and we witnessed quite the excitement in our neighborhood.
At about 8:30pm we heard a horrible car crash that sounded like it happened in our front yard. I immediately thought a drunk driver (or drunken driver for all my Associated Press friends out there) had hit one of our cars in our driveway. Thank God, I was wrong. I grabbed the dog who was hysterically barking as my husband raced to the window. He began to give me a description of what had happened as I shuddered in the back with the dog. I don't do too well with car accidents.
A truck based our next door neighbor's enormous oak tree. The oak tree has to be at least 50-60 years old, probably planted there by the person who built the house. It was definitely our guardian tree as the truck would have been headed for somewhere between our house and our neighbor's house had it not met the natural stop sign planted in the front yard.
Like out of a commercial, beer cans came rolling out of the truck as our neighbors ran over and encouraged the driver to stay still until paramedics arrived. Again, thank God, no one died. I don't do well with people who die in car accidents, particularly ones 15 feet from my front door.
The driver was taken away in the ambulance, cops are currently marking the scene and a tow truck has just arrived. Thank heavens for trees and stay at home Saturday nights.

So... I'm a blog stalker too. And now I have your blog to add to my list. :) That is crazy about the tree incident! Is this the tree that has caused massive amounts of raking on ya'lls part? :) Thanks again for the dessert last night, it was fabulous. Hope you guys can come to the Dave Ramsey after-glo party at our place. :)
