At the time of my engagement, I thought all of my 1.2 million friends (ha) were all married with the exception of me. It made for a better pity party for myself when I would remind my (now) husband that he had not yet proposed. However, it seems I was wrong. My other 1. 7 million friends are filling up my summer with their weddings and all the festivities that surround them. And cue the song " seasons of love." Seems fitting.
If you don't know me too well, then you don't know that I am quietly rejoicing inside because I LOVE weddings. I love everything about them and everything that goes into them. More importantly, having planned my own wedding, I love OTHER PEOPLE's weddings. It is so much less stressful.
But seriously, I don't think I have ever been to a wedding that I did not burst into tears when the doors opened and the bride walked down the aisle. I mean, I lose it. Doesn't matter if I know the bride or not, I bawl like a baby. Unless of course I have attended the pre-ceremony cocktail hour and then I may or may not be known for commenting loudly on the choice in decor. Or so my husband tells me I have been known to do. I honestly don't know what he's talking about. This really only presents a problem when I comment that I think it is tacky or resembles pool tile. Ugh, I've shared too much. Moving on....Last night we went to a couples' fiesta shower at Southern Hills. Or SoHills as I like to call it. Gives it a catchy ring, don't you think? Not so stuffy- much more down to earth. I really enjoyed seeing the bride-to-be and her fiance, but I think I might have enjoyed the margaritas and made to order guacamole and quesadilla bar more. Ole! (Kel- I kid- It really was good to see you. And you get a shout out because I know you are reading this!)
I have another shower next weekend, a shower the weekend following, we get the next weekend off and then an engagement party. A couple weeks off and then the drama of all dramas- two weddings on the same night. And in different towns. What's a girl to do? I think we are going to rock, paper, scissors it. Best out of three. Seems like the only logical solution.
Onto the next weekend- this one's a good one- a rehearsal dinner and a wedding in Kansas City. My fabulous uncle will be doing the flowers for this one and I cannot wait. He's pretty much amazing and I can't wait to help. Mandatory beer drinking occurs with the arrangement of the flowers and yet somehow, they always look beautiful. Should be a good time for one and all.
I take the rest of August off and then a wedding in September and my summer has come to a close. I really am appreciative for the invites-- it reminds me of the people in my life I truly do care about and of course it gives me a solid excuse to go shopping for gifts and necessary new outfits.
I am a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding (this one is not until '09) so I get to start planning some showers too! I think I like planning them more than I like attending them! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that a couple bachelorette parties get thrown into the mix and my summer will round out quite nicely. Such a stretch of festivities. Cheers.
In other news, my exciting travels just keep getting more exciting as I pack my bags for Northwest Arkansas next week. At least I can drive to this one! Can you feel my excitement? Look for some Woo Pig Sooie posts in the coming weeks.....until then....
